Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information YouKlip collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. YouKlip is operated by Nate Cross d/b/a YouKlip ("YouKlip," "we," "us," or "our") in California, USA. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service:

  • Account data: your email address and basic profile (name, avatar) from your Google account when you sign in with Google OAuth.
  • Preferences: the YouTube channels you follow, the topics and keywords you define, clips you save or react to, and similar usage choices.
  • Billing data: if you subscribe to Pro, Stripe processes your payment. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status; we do not store card numbers or payment credentials.
  • Server logs: IP address, user agent, and request metadata, kept short-term for security and troubleshooting.
  • Analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookieless. We do not track you across other websites.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and operate the Service (e.g., deliver clips that match your topics).
  • Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
  • Process subscriptions and billing via Stripe.
  • Send transactional emails (account, billing, keyword alerts you opt into).
  • Monitor, debug, and improve the Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase (United States) — database, authentication, and storage.
  • Stripe (United States) — payments and subscription billing.
  • Google (United States) — OAuth sign-in and YouTube Data API.
  • OpenAI (United States) — embeddings and language-model processing for topic detection.
  • Vercel (United States) — hosting and cookieless web analytics.

These providers have their own privacy policies, which govern how they handle the data we pass through them.

4. Cookies

We use a minimal set of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember UI preferences (e.g., layout mode). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes (e.g., Stripe billing records). Server logs are retained for a short period, typically 30 days.

6. Your Rights — GDPR (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Eraseyour data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (providing the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service), consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligation.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@youklip.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Your Rights — CCPA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use it.
  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

To exercise these rights, email support@youklip.com.

8. International Data Transfers

YouKlip and our service providers are based in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses, where applicable) for international transfers.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including TLS in transit, row-level security in our database, and limited access to production systems. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by law.

10. Children

YouKlip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, email support@youklip.com and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we may also notify you by email.
